What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Recreation Leader- Summer Seasonal position at City of Chino Hills?
The City of Chino Hills is looking for two enthusiastic, part-time staff for our upcoming Recreation Summer Youth Programs. The Senior Recreation Leaders must be available to work from May through August, with a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.
As a key part of our team, Senior Recreation Leaders will play an essential role in serving the Chino Hills community. We’re looking for responsible, safety-conscious, and friendly individuals with a positive customer service attitude.
Job assignments include:
- Youth Programs (Summer Day Camp)
- Employees will be assigned to work at varies parks and facilities for programs designed for children ages 6 to 12 years old.
- Employees must be willing to work to the 9-week programs that runs June 2 - August 3, Monday to Friday, from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
This part-time position requires flexibility, with the potential to work up to 29 hours per week.

Some of the essential Senior Recreation Leader duties you may be responsible for:
- Oversee the Day Camp Volunteen program and provide backup support to the Day Camp Recreation Specialist.
- Ensure proper supervision and ensure the safety of participants throughout program and on weekly excursions.
- Must demonstrate strong organization and leadership skills.
- Address daily issues and concerns that arise within the camp environment.
- Ensure the smooth operation of recreational activities and programs.
- Collaborate with the Recreation Specialist to maintain a positive camp atmosphere.
- Assist in the supervision and coordination of camp staff.
- Assist in the opening and closing of City facilities; ensure facilities are secure upon closing.
- Serve as a role model for camp participants and volunteers.
- Uphold safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- This position may perform other related duties as assigned.

- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
This position requires a minimum of one (1) year paid experience working in a recreation setting or a closely related field.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to the completion of high school or GED.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a California Class C Driver’s License.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
First Aid/CPR and AED Certification for Infants/Adults completed through or acknowledged by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
The City will offer free training for this certificate to candidates hired before May 27, 2025.
