The City of Cibolo is seeking a highly motivated MS4/Stormwater Inspector, or a Senior Inspector, that is responsible for inspecting and maintaining the stormwater management system, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This includes inspecting storm drains, detention and retention ponds, creeks, ditches, and other stormwater infrastructures. The inspector will also conduct on-site inspections of active construction sites to ensure adherence to best management practices (BMPs) and erosion control measures. Inspection of work performed on large scale projects such as Major Streets, Bridges, Drainage Facilities, Sewage treatment plants, Lift Stations and related bond projects. The MS4/Stormwater Inspector should realize that implementation of the authority should be regularly supplemented with advice and assistance from the Drainage Superintendent and other members of leadership within the Public Works Department.

Our Type: As our MS4/Stormwater Inspector you will represent the City of Cibolo within the Drainage Division and the Public Works Department under the supervision of the Drainage Superintendent. You must be organized and able to manage the logistics of multiple projects with professionalism and strong communication skills. You must be well versed in project information and data, including current project status and construction design. The MS4/Stormwater Inspector must have extensive knowledge of codes, regulations, and ordinances related to the construction industry, stormwater management, and other related subjects. This role will be boots on the ground, visiting project job sites and reviewing contractor job process. This role, as well as the CIP team, will tackle the difficult task of project management. If you can do those things and meet the following requirements, we would be happy to speak with you:
- High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Six (6) years combined experience with stormwater inspection or related, Public Works, and inspection of general building construction, commercial & residential development.
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Valid Class “C” Driver’s License.
- Traffic Flagger and Work Zone Safety Certificates or ability to obtain these certificates within one (1) year of employment.
- Good knowledge of all phases of general building construction procedures to include materials, methods, plans and specifications; knowledge of utility specifications; knowledge of safety standards and practices knowledge of proper best management practices (BMPs).
- Ability to operate survey instruments; ability to read and interpret construction plans; ability to perform engineering calculations utilizing algebra, geometry and trigonometry; ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to operate basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, contractors and the general public.
Some preferred qualifications include:
- Licenses “D” Water and Collections I.
- Stormwater I Certifications.
- Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater.
- Qualified Preparer of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (QPSWPPP).
