Job Summary:
The City of Cimarron, Kansas is seeking a full-time Community Development Coordinator/Deputy City Clerk who will coordinate and oversee the community development of Cimarron, Kansas and assist the City Clerk as needed. This includes facilitation of federal and state grants, business expansion and retention, as well as coordinating community events, programs, and activities. The individual will actively engage with current and prospective business owners and residents in order to identify growth opportunities within the City of Cimarron. In addition, the individual will assist the City Clerk as needed or in their absence.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Community Development Coordinator Duties/Responsibilities:
· Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with municipal employees, local business owners, the Cimarron Chamber of Commerce, and the general public.
· Coordinates and manages community growth projects and special events.
· Reports progress to City Council and advisory boards on projects.
· Evaluates projects that are grant-eligible according to applicable regulations and criteria.
· Completes and submits grant applications. Manages grant awards in accordance with award conditions and financial guidelines.
· Creates and maintains a list of local business contacts.
· Collaborates with business owners on projects and events as needed.
· Conducts special research and/or analyzes economic development program activities.
· Develops and distributes marketing materials.
· Coordinates and facilitates committee meetings as needed.
· Works closely with various committees, advisory boards, nonprofit organizations, and other agencies throughout the state of Kansas.
· Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Deputy Clerk Responsibilities
· Financial Management
o Performs accounting task including accounts payable and receivable.
· Payroll
o Reviews time sheets to ensure accuracy, then enters into payroll software.
o Processes and issues paystubs to employees.
· Deputy Clerk to the City Council
o Attend City Council meetings and record minutes in the City Clerk’s absence.
o Provide monthly reports for review.
· Administrative
o Prepares and maintains public records including ordinances, proclamations, resolutions, contracts, and agreements.
o Process Special Event, Liquor/Alcohol, Micro-Utility Vehicle licenses as needed.
o Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to gather, collate, and analyze a variety of data.
· Knowledge of program research, development, and implementation techniques.
· Knowledge of federal and state grant management.
· Knowledge of agencies and programs related to federal economic and development.
· Thorough understanding of community resources and development needs.
· Ability to format marketing material.
· Ability to maintain social media and websites.
· Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships within the community.
Education and Experience:
· Experience in economic development preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
