Plans, organizes and conducts a wide variety of activities, operations and programs in support of an assigned recreation center or parks facility including furnishing necessary supplies, supervises a facility and provides recreational activities such as dancing, arts and crafts, nature studies and games; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

YOUR ROLE 
The Cincinnati Park Board is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Parks/Recreation Program Coordinator to assist with planning and coordinating large-scale events at the Waterfront and collaborate with the Recreation Department on various community programs and activities. This role will play a key part in enhancing public engagement through inclusive and dynamic programming.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development, coordination, and implementation of large events at the Waterfront.
  • Partner with the Recreation Department to plan and execute a variety of recreational and cultural programs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and act as a point of contact for event participants, vendors, and partners.
  • Engage with and serve a diverse community, ensuring programs are accessible and welcoming to all.
  • Monitor events to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills, working effectively with people from all backgrounds.
  • Apply excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to support events and programs.
  • Exhibit a passion for community service and public recreation.

Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of education/parks/recreation programming.
Principles and practices of program development and administration.
Natural sciences, ecological principles and environmental issues.
Recreation programs and issues.
Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.
Educational theory and methods.
Principles and practices of land management.
Basic principles of marketing and public relations.
Functions and resources of other City departments and agencies.
Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.

Ability to:
Operate a personal computer, calculator, and other office equipment.
Manage and direct a comprehensive education program.
Develop and administer departmental goals, objectives and procedures.
Analyze and assess programs, policies and operational needs and make appropriate adjustments.
Identify and respond to sensitive community and organizational issues, concerns and needs.
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
Research, analyze and evaluate new service delivery methods and techniques.
Prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports; prepare and administer budgets.
Hike moderate distances over rough terrain.
Operate basic office equipment.
Interpret and apply applicable federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, to large and small audiences.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Each applicant must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, natural sciences, recreation or parks management or a closely related field.  One year of responsible outdoor/nature education or related experience is preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Driver's License.

MILITARY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION
Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.

Environmental Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to office computer screens; exposure to extremes in weather conditions; some work on slippery or uneven surfaces, in closed spaces; work in or around water; possible exposure to poison ivy, sick or wild animals; fumes from spray paints and adhesives; work closely with others.

Physical Conditions:  Duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing and walking; moderate lifting and carrying; general manual dexterity required; ability to distinguish colors and make visual evaluations; handling of live animals may be required; must be able to operate assigned vehicle.

Salary : $51,688 - $69,465
