JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent and the Summer Youth Program Coordinator, the Site Director plans and implements camp activities, oversees day-to-day operations, supervises and evaluates staff, and volunteers within the program for one Summer Youth Program site.***PLEASE NOTE: GENERAL KNOWLEGE OF SPORTS OR RECREATION ACTIVITIES IS PREFERRED. JOB DUTIES:
- Monitors participants and Summer Youth Program Assistants to ensure adherence to standard and established safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and operating requirements.
- Plants and implements camp activities and/or field trips.
- Supervises day-to-day operations, develops weekly lesson plans, and communicates with parents and staff.
- Supervises and evaluates all staff and volunteers within the program.
- Maintains current and accurate records relative to all aspects of the site.
- Serves in a professional and courteous manner with the highest regard to the customer.
- Performs customer service duties such as greeting and providing information to guests and parents.
- Attends mandatory orientation meetings.
- Enforces all rules and maintains discipline at all times.
- Ensures site is safe for all and reports any issues to Parks and Recreation Superintendent and the Summer Youth Program Coordinator.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the Summer Youth Program site. Janitorial and cleaning tasks will be required daily.
- Maintains and submits employee time sheets.
- Works with school site daily on equipment needed and handles all communication with the school site in a very professional manner.
- Completes Accident/Incident Reports on any issues that arise immediately.
- Plans activities that appeal to a variety of interests to the youth that attend the program. A variety of age-appropriate activities should be implemented each week.
- Effectively and professionally communicates with a large number of people including youth and parents/guardians.
- Maintains and cares for all equipment issued to the site.
- Coordinates the Summer Lunch Program for the assigned site. Ensures staff follows all established guidelines from the USDA Summer Food Service grant program.
- All other related activities assigned by Parks and Recreation Superintendent and the Summer Youth Program Coordinator.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to work well with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to keep records and make simple reports.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Supplemental Information
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be well organized.
- Must possess leadership skills.
- At least two months of experience working with children or young adults in a recreation, education, or related setting.
- At least three months of experience supervising employees in some capacity.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Available to work the entire seven week summer program.
JOB CONDITIONS:- Lifting, usually 30 pounds or less.
- Exposure to outdoors and summer heat.
- Must be able to respond to situations quickly and accurately.
Position is part-time for approximately seven weeks, late-May through mid-July. No sick leave or vacation time is accrued; no paid holidays.
