Under administrative direction, the Fleet Division Manager directs and manages the operations of the fleet program for the City. Develops extensive programs for servicing and repairing vehicles, monitoring in-service performance, and arranging for disposal and replacement.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manages, directs, oversees, and facilitates the fleet maintenance and repair work for the City's fleet; develops strong and competent strategies and programs for effective maintenance, service, and inventory.
Develops, establishes, and implements the department's budget; oversees and administers expenses and various purchases required to ensure all operations run smoothly; reports on budget adherence, discrepancies, or needed changes; facilitates updates to budget for improved services.
Develops and manages the citywide vehicle and equipment capital improvement project (CIP).
Determines and develops cost effective maintenance and repair programs for the city; creates policies and protocols for repairing, maintaining, and facilitating the operational quality of the fleet maintenance program and vehicles.
Interviews, hires, assigns, directs, coordinates, and evaluates fleet staff and mechanics; facilitates the success of the division and its operations; manages all activities and maintenance work; ensures a safe and productive environment.
Coordinates, oversees, schedules, and ensures training of operators and mechanics by factory representatives; maintains OSHA safety data sheets and researches relevant safety issues to address.
Develops, establishes, and implements policies and protocols for the division; manages and coordinates all work and fosters effective working relationships with departments that require services and maintenance.
Oversees, manages, and advises on new developments that might be useful to upgrade training, maintenance, and repair programs; develops and implements key training strategies to enhance the fleet and ensure all maintenance, operation, and repair work are done efficiently, safely, and with adherence to safety standards and statutes.
Provides guidance to Fleet and other city departments regarding DOT rules, state statutes, and the federal code.
Manages the disposal and the replacement of vehicles and equipment for the City; works with departments to determine condition of vehicles and arrange for disposal.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Does this position require a Commercial Driver's License? Yes
Type: Obtain and maintain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire date.
Education and ExperienceAssociate's Degree AND five (5) years of auto/heavy truck, fleet management, or mechanical experience AND two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered may be considered.
