What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning & Development Coordinator position at City of Clermont?

- Conducts a variety of organizational, operational and administrative analysis.
- Researches and evaluates budgetary and operational data, programs and services; identifies trends, assets and recommends areas for improvement.
- Interviews and consults with department officials, employees and others to give and receive information.
- Develops and implements administrative methods and procedures to create or enhance systems and programs.
- Recommends modifications to existing programs or processes in response to changes or improve effectiveness. Evaluates changes to new or revised programs.
- Gathers and performs research, data collection, public record requests in JustFOIA and the analysis of information.
- Designs and conducts surveys, analyzes results, and generates administrative and statistical reports based on results.
- Participates in surveys conducted by other organizations; obtains and analyzes results of surveys conducted by other organizations, provides summary to management.
- Prepares and submits applications and follow up documentation for grants, city recognition awards and permits, such as CUP short form and State adoption packages.
- Conducts the tracking, billing and submittal of advertisements and plating reviews.
- Coordinates projects and meets critical time sensitive deadlines; follows up on assignments and documentation with minimal direction.
- Serves as the department Coordinator for Records, Site Review and CRA; setting up, scheduling, processing and tracking all projects for Planners.
- Drafts documents including but not limited to complex narrative papers, policies, procedures, ordinances, presentations and reports.
- Prepares and/or delivers presentations as assigned.
- Participates in and transcribes meeting minutes for the following; department meetings, staff meetings, Planning & Zoning Commission meetings, Code Enforcement Hearings and other related activities.
- Performs general administrative/clerical work, including preparing files for permits, rezoning, variances, comp plans; reports and correspondence; entering and retrieving computer data; copying and filing documents; sending and receiving faxes, and answering the telephone.
- Attends training, seminars, and conferences as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Two (2) years of experience performing related work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Moderate computer software application experience related to word processing, media and spreadsheets.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
Physical Demands
- Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods.
- Exerts up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis.
- Operates office equipment requiring moderate dexterity.
- Requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and speaking abilities.
Work Environment
Works inside in an environmentally controlled space; but will occasionally work in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, dust or pollen, and traffic) for moderate periods of time during outdoor assignments.
