SUMMARY: Position will require an individual to be self-motivated, hardworking, reliable and who enjoys working outdoors. Incumbent will perform work of moderate difficulty in the maintenance of the urban forest; and perform related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Tree planting and small tree pruning, brush chipping, stump grinding, small tree removal dragging brush and raking
- Operate specialized forestry equipment including, stump grinder, small gas powered equipment, skid-steer loader, snow removal equipment and log loader truck.
- Prepare, operate and maintain all tools and equipment
- Perform heavy physical labor in all weather conditions
- Ground work supporting tree pruning and removal operations
- Must be available 24/7 to respond to emergency calls
- Reliable attendance
- Others duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Maintenance and operation of forestry tools and equipment including chain saws, trucks, stump grinder, and chipper.
- Work in the green industry (i.e. landscaping, horticulture, arboriculture, etc.)
- Safety precautions in equipment operation.
Skill in:
- Operating and maintaining forestry tools and equipment.
- Dealing effectively with the general public.
- Performance of heavy physical labor under varying conditions.
Ability to:
- Safely operate power tools
- Be available for emergency calls when not on regular duty (nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Carry out verbal and written instructions and work well with others
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Background in landscaping, horticulture, or other related field a plus. Experience driving various types of larger vehicles; including pickup and dump trucks preferred.
