Recreation Instructor - Jr. Golf
Under supervision, assists in the organization and instruction of recreational groups and classes within the various bureaus of the Division of Recreation. Assists supervisors as well as physical and recreation directors in an all-inclusive city-wide leisure time program and performs related duties as required. Organizes and conducts classes in handicrafts, folk dancing, nature lore, rhythm bands, needlecraft, ceramics, poster making, sandcraft, games of high and low organization, story telling, community singing, dramatics, metalcraft, photography, music, leathercraft, and other leisure time and hobby activities. Assists in teaching special skills, in the training of volunteer leaders, playground director, and leaders, organized neighborhood groups, and others. Assists at social parties, canteens, exhibits, open house programs, picnics, tournaments, meets, forums, and other gatherings. Assists other members of the staff as required. Keeps records and makes routine and special reports. Coordinates activities with a general recreation program. Attends staff meetings as required. Performs other job-related duties as required.PERMANENT PART TIME -- A High School Diploma or GED is required. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required. SPORTS -- Experience in planning, developing, recruiting, implementing, and instructing youth/adults in various sports and other related programs is preferred. ARTS -- Experience in planning, developing, recruiting, implementing, and instructing youth/adults in various visual art classes is preferred. CAMP -- Experience in planning, developing, recruiting, implementing, and instructing youth/adults in various organized programs, outdoor programs preferred. COMPUTER -- Experience in planning, developing, recruiting, implementing, and instructing youth/adults in various activities, computers and other programs is preferred. Volunteer experience will be considered.
  •   Plan and deliver age-appropriate golf lessons and activities for junior participants. 
  • Focus on teaching fundamental golf skills, including grip, stance, swing mechanics, and putting techniques. 
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for children of varying skill levels. 
  • Safely transport participants to and from the golf facility using provided transportation. 
  • Ensure compliance with transportation safety regulations and protocols. 
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding transportation schedules and procedures. 
  • Supervise junior participants during golf instruction sessions and transportation. Implement safety measures and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of participants. 
  • Foster a supportive and respectful atmosphere among participants. 
  • Organize and maintain golf equipment, ensuring it is in good condition. 
  • Distribute and collect equipment for each session, tracking inventory as needed. 
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to plan and coordinate daily activities. 
  •  Address any concerns or inquiries from parents or community partners in a professional and timely manner. 
  • Assess participants' golf skills and progress, providing constructive feedback. 
  • Adapt instruction based on individual abilities and needs. 
  • Encourage skill development through positive reinforcement and motivation. 
  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, skill assessments, and any incidents. 
  • Complete required documentation for transportation logs and attendance tracking. 
  • Submit regular progress reports to program coordinators. 
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities provided by the program. 
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors to share ideas and enhance instructional strategies. 
  •  Assists at social parties, canteens, exhibits, open house programs, picnics, tournaments, meets, forums, and other gatherings. 
  • Assists other members of the staff as required. 
  • Assist with transportation for participants attending city-wide events. 
  • Ensure the smooth execution of events, including set-up, supervision, and cleanup. 
  •  Evaluate the effectiveness of the program through regular assessments. 
  • Gather feedback from staff, participants, and parents to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Implement changes and enhancements to enhance program quality. 
  • Address any performance concerns or conflicts in a timely manner.
