What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Instructor - Playgrounds position at City of Cleveland?
- Under supervision, assists in the organization and instruction of recreational groups and classes within the various bureaus of the Division of Recreation.
- Assists supervisors as well as recreation directors in an all-inclusive city-wide leisure time program and performs related duties as required.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of 6-7 summer playground sites.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at each site.
- Collaborate with site coordinators to address site-specific needs and challenges.
- Facilitate engaging and age-appropriate activities for children at various playground sites.
- Develop and implement a diverse range of recreational programs and events.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for participants.
- Organize and coordinate city-wide events for the summer program.
- Assists at social parties, canteens, exhibits, open house programs, picnics, tournaments, meets, forums, and other gatherings.
- Assists other members of the staff as required.
- Keeps records and makes routine and special reports.
- Plan transportation logistics for participants attending city-wide events.
- Ensure the smooth execution of events, including set-up, supervision, and cleanup.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of staff and participants for the summer program activities.
- Conduct orientation and training sessions for staff members.
- Conducts staff meetings.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to staff throughout the program.
- Collaborate with staff to plan and implement daily and special activities.
- Ensure that activities align with the interests and needs of the participants.
- Incorporate a variety of recreational, educational, and cultural activities.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for participants attending city-wide events.
- Ensure the safe and timely transportation of participants to and from events.
- Communicate transportation schedules and procedures to staff and parents.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the program through regular assessments.
- Gather feedback from staff, participants, and parents to identify areas for improvement.
