What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horticulture Worker position at City of College Station?
- Prune trees and other landscape materials in City parks and cemeteries to clear hazards.
- Perform watering, landscape planting and maintenance operations for City Cemeteries and Parks, landscaped areas and planting beds
- Plant annual color and nursery stock in sign beds and landscape area in the parks system, City ROW and on City property.
- Assist in irrigation maintenance.
- Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of cemetery properties.
- Assist with preparing for special events as needed.
- Inspect and conduct preventative and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Participate in the maintenance of the horticulture system by operating a variety of equipment such as edgers, line trimmers, brush chippers and various other hand and power tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid State of Texas Driver's License.
Preferred:
Experience in landscape maintenance. Possess a valid State of Texas Class "B" CDL.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Drug Screening: Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this position, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy.
