What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Intern position at City of College Station?
Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, the intern will provide professional human resources support to assigned departmental administration and managers in the areas of learning, development & performance management administration; and work alongside other HR team members coordinating rollouts and data administration activities, including but not limited to, working on specific assignments related to the implementation, administration, record keeping, and associated communication related to various learning and development programs and projects.

1. Assist the HR Director and Senior HR Leaders in the planning, implementation, and coordination of learning, development, and performance management programs. Ensure all tracking tools and related processes are optimized to support the effective rollout and execution of learning initiatives.
2. Collaborate with the HR team and organizational leaders on performance management projects, including reporting, data collection, data analysis, and other related tasks to help drive successful performance outcomes.
3. Support the use of the City's learning platforms (e.g., LinkedIn Learning) by creating training course communications and related documentation. Contribute to the evaluation and recommendation of relevant courses to enhance learning and development opportunities for employees.
4. Develop and present an individual project that aligns with the city’s HR goals or operational needs. This may include researching HR best practices, preparing employee engagement initiatives, or evaluating current HR processes.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program related to Human Resources, Public Administration, or a similar field
Experience and/or advanced studies related to training and development field, with understanding of adult learning, online learning tools, and ability to support various learning program implementations
Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, with strong verbal & written communication abilities
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Eagerness to learn and contribute to the HR department's goals
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Development or related field
Experience working or interning in a Human Resources capacity
Basic knowledge of HR policies and employment laws is a plus
Experience with HR software or databases
Hours: 30-40 hours/week; May 19, 2025 – August 1, 2025
