What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Supervisor - Lincoln Center position at City of College Station?
Under general direction of the Parks & Recreation Manager, the Recreation Supervisor supervises and coordinates recreational activities and special events conducted at the Lincoln Recreation Center; and is responsible for planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing a variety of adult and youth programs for the community, including but not limited to an after-school program and summer camp.
Responsible for overall operation, staffing, budget, and rental of the Lincoln Center, recreational activities and special events, including but not limited to, providing oversight of day-to-day programs and operations, facility operations and rentals, safety protocols and compliance, and management of assigned staff.
Evaluate facility operations; establish and administer operating policies and procedures, recommend improvements and modifications, and develop policies and standards for all programs and special events.
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work activities of assigned staff (including volunteers and/or temporary workers) which includes the following: interviewing, supervising, training, motivating, and evaluating performance; working with employees to correct deficiencies; identifying and resolving employee concerns and/or problems; directing work; and making hiring, terminating and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
Develop, implement, and recommend effective maintenance and safety programs, procedures, and guidelines; conduct periodic inspections and ensure program facilities, equipment and grounds are properly maintained for optimal safety.
Plan and coordinate promotional materials and community outreach including advertising, news releases, and public service announcements for events and activities with departmental marketing liaison.
Maintain adequate inventory and upkeep of equipment used in the operation of assigned programs.
Prepare and manage budget for assigned program areas, monitor and control budget expenditures, and achieve revenue goals.
Maintain records on program activities, attendance, and other pertinent information; prepare a variety of operational and business reports, and associated correspondence.
Represent the department by serving on internal and external committees and boards as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field and three (3) years’
experience related to area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the
course of work.
Availability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Available for emergency response.
Preferred:
Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge and experience in after-school and/or summer camp administration.
