Administrative Assistant II - Travel Demand Specialist
The city of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome an Administrative Assistant II to the Public Works team! As an Administrative Assistant II, you will support the local Transportation Demand Management (TDM) services. TDM services are focused on decreasing single occupancy vehicle travel by promoting available alternative transportation modes among employers, commuters, residents, community organizations, schools, and other public agencies in the Pikes Peak Region.

Hourly Salary: $21.78 - $26.14
Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; 8:00AM - 5:00PM, availability on weekends or evenings for events.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
This is a special at-will position funded by a FTA grant received by Transit annually.
As an Administrative Assistant II - Travel Demand Specialist, you will:
- Assist in implementing strategies to encourage alternative modes of travel such as carpooling, vanpooling, transit, biking, and walking
- Lead Transit’s Metro Rides Program, including Vanpool, Carshare, School Pool, and Bike Locker Rental programs
- Foster partnerships with various stakeholder groups and develop service agreements
- Coordinate with employees and employers on commuter benefit programs
- Enhance MMT’s Travel Training and Travel Ambassador Programs. Develop and refine the program’s curriculum and materials
- Assist in strengthening community relationships creating public interest in alternative methods of transportation
- Inform current and prospective passengers of the benefits of alternative modes of travel, including those specifically offered by the MMT system
- Help manage contracts and agreements with key stakeholders
- Support marketing efforts to promote alternative modes of travel and engage with interested parties
- Coordinate with transportation providers in the state and region to encourage alternative transportation options
- Support the promotion of events and public meetings and encourage community participation
- Provide assistance and customer service to commuters, employers, schools and others about transportation options and offer support of development of their TDM programs
- Count farebox cash collections
- Count and refill Ticket Vending Machine cash

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:
- Alternative transportation options, including local and regional transit and ridesharing systems
- Customer relations with problem-solving skills
- Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite computer programs
- Local geography and commute patterns
Ability to:
- Assist in creating and presenting informational materials to community members and stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Research, craft, and deliver engaging information in a public setting
- Develop or support programs that meet community needs
- Interpret and apply rules and regulations in assigned program areas
- Ensure compliance with mandated policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Collaborate with diverse groups and stakeholders on TDM programs
- Attend public transit events and ride transit vehicles
Minimum Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
- Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
