About the Job:
In this position, you will provide support and expertise through comprehensive assessment and investigation to meet the needs of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) while maintaining collaborative relationships between local and National ICAC affiliates, federal agencies, the NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children), and other agencies that provide services for the protection of children.
This is a Special Position (at will), grant funded expected to be funded through September 2025. There is a possibility, but no guarantee, of grant extension.

This position requires physically demanding work, including climbing, crawling, jumping, and walking during the course of investigative activities; and pushing, pulling, and lifting and/or carrying 25 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds occasionally.

As a Civilian Criminal Investigator In ICAC, You Will
- Investigate cases, including tracking and triage of Cyber Tips from NCMEC and other institutions regarding potential exploitation of children
- Assess whether there is a criminal case regarding exploitation of children will be initiated; complete case report supplements when applicable
- Obtain information and conduct a criminal investigation when appropriate, including collecting and submitting evidence and obtaining victim and witness statements and medical records/evaluations, etc.; forward the required information to the District Attorney's Office
- Conduct field work, victim and witness interviews, Cyber Tip processing assisting in execution of search warrants and court orders, conducting surveillance and other investigative field-related tasks as needed
- Document all case management actions in LERMS (Law Enforcement Records Management System)
- Maintain statistical information used for reporting purposes
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Techniques, theories, and methods of criminal investigation
- Criminal procedures related to evidence and criminal investigations
- Principles of case filing and record keeping
- Modern office equipment, including computers and supporting software
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Maintain accurate files
- Handle sensitive issues and interactions
- Use analytical judgment and decision-making skills
- Properly and safely operate a motor vehicle
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study.
- Five years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
- Ability to obtain NCIC/CCIC certification within 3 months of hire.
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges.
Preferred Qualifications
- College level coursework in the criminal justice field
- Progressive experience investigating crimes against children
