In this position, you will perform highly technical preliminary, interim, and final construction inspections for assigned engineering projects, which may include roads, streets, appurtenant structures, catch basins, storm basins, bridges, drainage facilities, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, cross pans, and squared returns.

As an Inspector II, you will:
- Perform technical engineering inspections of construction sites, utility trenches, restoration of city assets, and backfill procedures in the City Right-of-Way
- Ensure that all work completed complies with City codes and engineering standards, American with Disabilities Act regulations, and approved engineering specifications and plans
- Ensure construction is in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Investigate citizen and business complaints related to assigned area of responsibility
- Inspect construction, replacement, and repair projects in the public right-of-way; ensure that all projects are completed in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, codes and regulations
- Conduct and analyze tests on soil aggregate, asphalt, and concrete for compliance with compaction densities and specifications outlined in City ordinances
- Oversee subdivision construction functions; review and inspect construction, final release of financial assurances, and acceptance of improvements within the Public Right-of-Way and Public Easements
- Oversee grading and erosion control to ensure conformance to City Engineering Standards and Specifications; respond to all grading complaints and thoroughly investigate to help resolve any conflicts that may arise
- Perform initial and follow-up investigations of drainage complaints made by citizens and business owners; prepare related reports; resolve the conflict if possible

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:
- Basic operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive civil engineering inspection program
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Methods and techniques of concrete materials testing; asphalt materials testing; and analysis of overlay, repair, and maintenance
- Characteristics of soil aggregates and pavement materials associated with restoration in the City Right-of-Way Basic principles of construction management
Ability to:
- Use ACCELA as a management tool for all inspections and scheduling
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans and specifications Interpret and explain pertinent City policies and procedures
- Work independently
- Safely operate assigned vehicles
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
- Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field
Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering technology, construction management, or a related field
- Four years of experience in inspections related to construction/civil engineering technology
Physical Demands: Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally; 10 lbs. frequently; or negligible amounts constantly; OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Salary : $64,713 - $77,687
