Maintenance Technician II - Neighborhood Services
The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome multiple Maintenance Technician II's to the Neighborhood Services team! As a Maintenance Technician II, you will perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, landscaping, and equipment operation, while adhering to City policies, safety standards, and aesthetic guidelines. You will operate tools and equipment such as bobcats, lawn mowers, and trailers, and complete work orders, inventory management, inspections, and field assessments. Additionally, you will respond to public inquiries, provide information, and ensure compliance with safe work practices and City procedures for Quality-of-Life Team in Neighborhood Services.

- There are multiple vacancies open for this position** Hourly Salary: $21.78 - $26.14 Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt Work Schedule: Monday - Friday to include either (4) 10-hour workdays or (5) 8-hour workdays depending on team assignments
- Perform the full range of semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties of buildings, structures, roads, highways, drainage systems, grounds, trails, and related systems
- Perform semi-skilled duties such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, masonry, park maintenance, turf management, arboricultural, horticultural, equipment operation, and other duties as assigned
- Complete assigned work orders and tasks requiring semi-skilled maintenance skills and techniques following City policies and procedures, public safety standards, and aesthetic guidelines related to maintenance work
- Operate various hand and power tools and shop equipment
- Operate assigned equipment such as a bobcat, skid steer, sandblaster, riding lawn mower, loading and unloading of dump trailers, and flatbed trailers
- Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required
- Monitor and maintain supply inventory
- Perform field inspections to assess necessary repair and maintenance work
- Perform safety and vandalism checks
- Remove trash and debris from public and private property
- Maintain operation records and file reports as needed
- Respond to public inquiries and provide pertinent information in a courteous manner
- Explain City policies and procedures to the general public
- Ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures and workplace safety; and review completed work for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specification
- May participate in the activities and services of the City's recycling center; and operate specialized recycling equipment used in separating, sizing and grading various materials for resale

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Practices, methods, and materials used in general construction and maintenance work
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices related to this type of work
- Read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Safely and properly operate the full range of complex heavy power-driven equipment and various hand and power tools
- Apply and explain pertinent laws, rules, regulations, and City policies and procedures
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
- Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
