About the Job: Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services seeks a Visitor Services Assistant to work the entrance station at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site.
Job Type: Seasonal
Work Schedule: Typical schedule will be Wednesday - Saturday from 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and Sunday from 12:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Work Location:3105 Gateway Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80904
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Approximate dates of employment will be end of May through mid August. Scheduled hours will vary based on department needs. Opportunities to work additional hours at special events from September through November may be available. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.
As a Visitor Services Assistant, You Will
Physical Demands: The ability to lift 35 pounds occasionally, stand, stoop, climb, bend, and/or walk for extended periods is required.

As a Visitor Services Assistant, You Will
- Staff the Ranch entrance station
- Provide information and assistance to visitors (such as, distribute maps/ brochures, orient visitors to park facilities and amenities, promote education programs, educate on park regulations, etc.)
- Promote and sell Rock Ledge Ranch Living History Association memberships
- Operate a cash register and credit card reader
- Collect revenue and complete deposit report to verify money collection at the end of each shift
- Report daily visitor attendance
- Distribute and collect visitor surveys
- Clean and perform light maintenance duties, including litter pick up
- May assist with special events or programs
- Knowledge of American and Pikes Peak regional history
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Comfortable working alone
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-keeping skills
- Self-motivation and flexibility
- Experience handling money and working with the public
