The purpose of this job is to supervise staff and oversee the visual elements of projects, develop the overall artistic vision for the project, and delegate tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.   • Supervises, manages, and evaluates assigned employees and makes decisions about hiring, and discipline of employees; prioritizes and assigns work; develops and oversees employee work schedules and approves time away from work; provides and/or facilitates employee training and development; addresses employee concerns and/or problems; counsels and/or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee performance appraisals; determines or makes recommendations regarding new hire salaries; and acts as liaison between employees and management.


  • Oversees the creation of visual concepts.

  • Estimates time, costs and resources to complete projects and ensure deadlines are met.

  • Ensures all visual assets adhere to established guidelines.

  • Plans, assesses, bids, and manages purchasing of supplies and services.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees (2 or more full-time employees), including providing input on hiring, issuing formal discipline, conducting performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. Such authority is not merely of a routine or clerical nature but requires the use of independent judgment.

  • May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for departmental budget allocations. May monitor division or program/promotional level budget and expenditures.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field.


  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in graphic design, digital design, interactive design, or related field.

  • Previous supervisory or lead work experience preferred.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
Knowledge of:

  • Branding/visual identity and marketing and advertising design.


  • Motion graphics, art and illustration, and website/app design.

  • General office practices and administrative procedures, records management, and administration techniques and procedures.

  • Graphic design software and other industry-specific software programs such as Adobe Creative Cloud.

Skill in:

  • Leading a team and project(s) from initial concept through final closeout.

  • Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.

  • Monitoring and assessing the performance of employees to make improvements or take corrective action.

  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to:

  • Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Organizing and managing time effectively.

  • Create and present reports.

  • Handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Effectively plan and delegate the work of others and to train and supervise the work of others.

  • Regularly use a computer, software, phone, and related office equipment.

  • Focus on tasks.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Incumbents required to use close vision, three-dimensional vision and identify and distinguish colors.

Hours/Days
General hours: M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and special events.


Starting Salary
Min: $27.68/hour to Max: $40.41/hour. Commensurate with education, training and experience.
