This position ensures smooth and efficient parking operations during events hosted at designated parking facilities. This position involves assisting event attendees with parking, directing traffic flow, accepting payments, and ensuring compliance with parking regulations. The Event Parking Attendant serves as a frontline representative, providing excellent customer service and contributing to a positive event experience for patrons. This position also performs enforcement duties during times that events are not scheduled.
The work is considered sedentary in nature and involves walking or standing and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine handheld operations. The work requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions: fingering, hearing, repetitive motion, speaking and visual acuity.

- Enforces City and University of South Carolina campus parking ordinances and regulations on assigned routes and schedules;
- Issues parking citations; provides court testimony as required;
- Monitors the condition of City parking meters; reports defective meters to appropriate staff;
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to event attendees, answering questions and providing directions as needed;
- Process all cash or credit card payments for event parking charges;
- Ability to multi-task to keep all traffic flowing both in and out of the parking garages;
- Manage pedestrian traffic to ensure safe crossing and minimize conflicts with vehicle movement;
- Direct vehicles to available parking spaces, maximizing parking capacity and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with parking regulations and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or incidents;
- Maintains various lists and logs;
- Performs specialized clerical duties peculiar to the department to which assigned; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED;
- Two (2) year of relevant prior experience;
- Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.
- Work hours may vary; must be flexible with scheduling and available to work days, nights, and weekends as needed by the department;
- Evening and weekend work is common, depending on event schedules and requirements;
- Typically works outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash and/or credit card transactions accurately;
- Ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner even in hostile situations;
- Ability to copy, transcribe, enter or post data or information;
- Ability to serve others such as customers, attending to their requests and exchanging information with them;
- Ability to handle or use machines, tools or equipment requiring brief instruction or experience, such as computers for data entry, copiers, telephones or similar equipment;
- Ability to read routine sentences, instructions, regulations, procedures or work orders; writing routine sentences and completing routine job forms and incident reports; speaking routine sentences using proper grammar;
- Ability to perform clerical, manual or technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures and requiring intensive understanding of a restricted field or complete familiarity with the functions of a unit or small division of an operating agency; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure; and
- Ability to guide others, requiring a few decisions affecting a few co-workers; works in a stable environment with clear and uncomplicated written/oral instructions but with some variations from the routine.
Salary : $37,166 - $46,458
