Job Description Summary
The purpose of this job is to inspect construction methods of utility, transportation, and other civil engineering projects. Administers contracts and construction plans for engineering improvement and rehabilitation projects. Ensures projects conform to specifications, construction methods, and regulatory permits in a manner that guarantees customer service, fiscal responsibility, and co-worker mentoring to the highest possible standard. - Inspects contractors’ construction methods and materials; report and correct deficiencies.
- Administers contracts and construction plans for engineering improvement projects and rehabilitation of roadways, bridges, sanitary sewers, storm drains, or sidewalks.
- Ensures compliance with city, state, and federal regulations, standards, and permits.
- Maintains documentation of projects to meet federal funding guidelines, including files and records pertinent to contracts and construction inspection.
- Assesses and ensures compliance, consistency, accuracy, and safety of projects; identifies and addresses plan specific deviations.
- Resolves complex construction problems.
- Provides training and guidance to others.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
