THE POSITION
Under general supervision, provides journey level coaching and instruction duties in support of competitive swim program, including assisting in the supervision of all aspects of the competitive swimming program; teaching, administration, and deck coaching at all team events and functions. The position will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the participants in the program by enforcing policies and procedures as needed.

- Assists in planning and supervising workouts for swim team.
- Promotes the swim team program.
- Communicates as necessary with parents and other coaches regarding assignments, swimmer progress, and upcoming events.
- Assists in providing evaluation of swimmers at the end of short and long course seasons, as well as at the time of promotion of swimmers.
- Attends swim meets as scheduled.
- Transports team to events as scheduled.
- Records and submits results from swim meets.
- Assumes responsibility for the overall safety of the swim team participants.
- Assists with preparation of all special events relating to swim team.
- Conducts try outs for new swimmers and parent orientations.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent GED AND Two (2) years of experience teaching or coaching a swim team or competing at a collegiate or national level.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Required Licenses or Certifications :
CPR certification for the Professional Rescuer (CPR-PR), Standard First Aid, Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instruction, AED, O2 certificates are required within 90 days of employment.
Special Requirements :
Must obtain a Class C driver's license with passenger endorsement within 90 days of appointment.
Must be available to work during team practice and competition hours including evening, weekend, and holidays.
May be required to work overtime.
Must maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards.
May be required to pass a background investigation
Requires occasional travel.
