Job Summary
The Code Enforcement Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to public health and safety. This position involves monitoring, inspecting, and enforcing codes and ordinances to promote community well-being. The majority of this position will be focused on Code Enforcement. Animal Control is on an as needed basis with daily duties as required to properly maintain the shelter. The successful candidate should be a fast learner with self-motivation, being able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines and the ability to quickly and accurately learn new skills. Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of buildings, properties, and facilities to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Investigate complaints related to code violations, including those concerning public health and safety.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting findings from inspections and investigations.
- Collaborate with local agencies and stakeholders to address compliance issues effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions taken.
- Provide guidance and education to property owners regarding code requirements and compliance processes.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations, including FDA regulations and OSHA standards, that may impact enforcement practices.
- Participate in community outreach efforts to promote awareness of code enforcement initiatives.
Requirements
- Knowledge of relevant regulations including FDA regulations, public health standards, OSHA requirements, and building codes.
- Strong skills in compliance management and regulatory reporting.
- Excellent report writing abilities with a focus on clarity and detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with the public and other stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- A valid driver's license is required for travel between inspection sites.
