The YES Leadership and Mentoring Program has been designed to enhance the self-confidence, skills, knowledge, and abilities of Commerce youth by providing meaningful and rewarding experiences through training, resources, mentoring and education in a structured work setting.

**If selected to participate, you will be scheduled for processing on the following dates: Tuesday, May 20, 2025 through Thursday, May 22, 2025.
**APPLICANTS MUST BE COMMERCE RESIDENTS, AND BE AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE 100 HOURS, FROM JUNE 23, 2025 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 7, 2025. PROGRAM PARTICIPATION IS LIMITED TO A TOTAL OF TWO SUMMERS. IF HIRED, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND A MANDATORY ORIENTATION MEETING TO BE HELD IN JUNE 10, 2025, IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS.
The City of Commerce is seeking youth to provide assistance in a variety of areas of City service. The positions will offer 100 hours of temporary employment during the summer of 2025. YES employees will learn a variety of skills, receive job training and counseling and learn how to present themselves in a business environment.
May assist in conducting youth recreation activities; organize and clean work areas; clean alleys, medians and park areas; operate computer, typewriter, copier machine and other office equipment; assist with data collection and research for projects; assist with preparation of reports; attend meetings/seminars regarding City activities; assist with City Council/Commission presentations; performs related duties as required.
Applicants must possess an interest in learning and gaining "hands on" experience working for a municipality.

The following requirements for the City of Commerce Summer Youth and Educational Service Program is approved and implemented as follows:
- LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have a valid Social Security Card. Applicants under 18 years of age must provide a birth certificate to receive a work permit.
AGE REQUIREMENT: 14-19 years of age at time of application filing deadline. (May not exceed 19 years of age while participating in the program.) - RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Only Commerce residents with a current Commerce Resident Activity Card are eligible to participate in this leadership and mentoring program. A copy of a current Commerce Resident Activity Card must be submitted with the YES Program Application to be considered for participation.
- Grandparent residency cards are excluded from eligibility.
- MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION LIMIT: Youth may not participate in the program more than two times/Summers.
- SELECTION PROCESS: Qualified applicants will be selected to work with participating departments based upon a lottery process.
