What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Planner - Planning and Zoning position at City of Coral Springs?
This position is responsible professional and administrative work in the Community Development division. Responsibilities also include organizing and coordinating the advanced and more complex studies, analyzing research data and preparing written summary reports. Work is performed under the guidance of a division manager and is reviewed through reports, conferences, and results attained.
- Provides information to the general public, permit applicants, and businesses/property owners regarding the City's land use and zoning regulations and policies, including zoning certification letters.
- Reviews building permits, conditional uses, special exceptions, variances, and site plans, and presents them to applicable boards, as needed.
- Assists with land development code amendments.
- Reviews business tax applications and parking requirements to ensure compliance with zoning requirements.
- Determines data needs for complex studies. Collects, analyzes and evaluates the data for the studies. Prepare related reports, projects and exhibits as appropriate. Participates in preparation of long range planning studies and Comprehensive Plan.
- Maintains the Future Land use Plan Map and assists with all Geographic Information Systems (GIS) needs of Community Development staff.
- Assists the administrative responsibilities for and presentation to the Planning and Zoning Board and other appropriate boards/committees as directed.
- Maintains records of statistical data. Supplies data as requested.
- Creates and updates as needed, the PDF maps posted on the City's website (water districts, drainage districts, roadways, etc.)
- Creates and updates all content for the Facts About Coral Springs webpage on the City website - download demographic and socioeconomic data from the census, create tables, graphs and maps.
- Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or other directly related field. Master's Degree preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in community development. GIS experience preferred but not required.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
Salary : $72,911 - $114,574
