What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Pops Summer Seasonal Site Directors 2025 position at City of Coral Springs?
This is seasonal supervisory work in the area of special populations recreation which follows well established procedures. An employee in this class is responsible for supervising and evaluating all counselors and Assistant Site Directors. Employee is responsible for contact with parents and dealing with all special incidents that occur. Required to exercise some independent judgment in working out details of assignments and must have the ability to solve problems as they arise and exercise supervision.
Summer Camp 2025 dates are to be determined, tentatively June - August 2025*.
Days will be Monday - Friday, any time between 8 AM - 4 PM.
*Please be aware this is a seasonal position, so consistent availability is key in staffing our summer camp. Any time off requests need to be shared as early as possible in the hiring process and are subject to approval based on staffing needs.
Specialty certification related to Special Populations in the area(s) of recreation, physical education, health, sports, exercise, music, or closely related is preferred. College course work in therapeutic recreation, recreation, adaptive physical education, physical education, special education or closely related field preferred.Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as camp sites (schools, Gyms), field trip venues, outdoor areas and buses, e.g., use of safe work place practices with equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations.

- Develops and supervises the implementation of games, sports, individual and group activities, arts and crafts, special events, and aquatic related activities for all assigned recreational areas.
- Responsible for supervising the Special Populations Camp staff and evaluating all counselors and Assistant Site Directors.
- Responsible for contact with parents and dealing with all special incidents that occurs, managing issues and ensures recreational equipment is maintained properly.
- Displays leadership ability in planning and directing special populations recreational activities, facilitating inclusion and promoting safety and accessibility compliance.
