What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Service Worker - Service Center position at City of Corsicana?
JOB SUMMARY:
Conducts routine and minor maintenance on City vehicles and equipment and assists in maintaining Service Center facility and operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Services equipment and vehicles as necessary, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, washing and making minor mechanical repairs, such as belts, hoses, headlights, etc.
- Assists in all maintenance activities including the normal custodial duties of cleaning, sweeping, mopping, washing, etc.
- Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
- Follows safety rules and regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to drive and operate trucks up to 2-1/2 ton capacity.
- Drive multi-geared trucks safely and effectively.
- Must be able to physically crawl under and bend over vehicles and equipment for purposes of servicing, cleaning and repairing.
- Cleans tools, equipment and vehicles by various means, including high pressure washers.
- Must be able to carry heavy loads of various materials and supplies up to 100 lbs.
OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB:
Must have High School Diploma or GED. Must have basic mechanical knowledge of engines, transmissions, steering components and other major component groups on typical car, pickup or truck. Should be familiar with usual cleaning procedures around mechanical shops, both for facilities and vehicles. Must be able to work in inclement weather, including occasional need to work after hours and weekends/holidays and may work in heavy traffic areas. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License B (CDL-B).
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The City of Corsicana has established the goal of a 100% drug and alcohol-free workplace. Applicants will be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Punctuality and regular attendance is required. Must satisfactorily complete one-year probationary period.
