Duties and Responsibilities:
Checks and maintains equipment for proper operation, as required by manufacturers. Rakes bar screens, adjusts return and wasting rates, monitors DO, collects samples, performs many process control calculations. May measure Suspended Solids, BOD, pH, temperature, flow, Cl2, centrifuging of samples, settleometer, etc... Helps maintain the Biosolids handling and disposal program. Responds to and identifies Treatment Plant alarm conditions and failures. Maintains plant grounds, buildings, vehicles, and tools. Performs all types of preventative maintenance. Maintains collection system, including lift stations. Clears plugs, cleans lines, and repairs manholes. Applies pesticide to sewer Lines as directed. Performs T.V. sewer inspections. Performs other duties as requested and assigned
Skills:
A working knowledge of or ability for mechanical; analytical; laboratory; mathematical; chemistry; biology; interpersonal and public relations.
Mental Demands:
Routine duties; minor decision making; working knowledge of Wastewater treatment plant operations; testing procedures; maintenance and safety.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee regularly lifts and/or move up 25 pounds, and will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Experience:
Prefer water and/or wastewater operator experience in a system of comparable or larger size.
Education/Training:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, vibration, confined space, and traffic hazards. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather condition, dampness, direct sunlight, dust, pollen, insect stings, and animals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Involves moderate exposure to dangerous situations. Involves moderate exposure to stress due to the work environment and/or crisis situations.

Special requirements:
Valid Colorado driver’s license. A minimum of a Class “B” CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained within 6 months of employment; and a personal telephone. Requires a Colorado Class “A” Wastewater and a Class “3” Collection Operator’s Certification
