JOB SUMMARY
This position’s main responsibility will be performing a variety of tasks to include effective maintenance support and mechanical service for water, wastewater, streets, drainage, and parks services.
MAJOR DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Operates weed eaters and riding mowers to perform mowing operations and brush removal in City right-of-way, park, and other locations.
· Removes debris and fallen trees from streets, inlets, curbs, and gutters caused from extreme weather conditions. Appropriately disposes of litter and debris.
· Repair streets by filling potholes as needed.
· Monitors treatment process and makes necessary adjustments as indicated by current conditions in wastewater treatment plant.
· Performs operating, testing, maintenance, and repair work on water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
· Responds to complaints regarding water leaks, pressure loss or no water; evaluate situation; explain findings in workorder system.
· Responds to complaints regarding the wastewater collections systems and reports findings in workorder system.
· Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects including ditch digging, main and pipe repair, and installing water and sewer taps.
· Performs regular inspections and preventative maintenance (including washing, checking, and servicing) of all equipment.
· Performs other general maintenance or groundskeeping activities as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Regularly required to climb or balance. Frequently required to move heavy objects and work near moving mechanical parts and outside in all weather conditions. Will be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. Occasionally work in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually loud in the work environment.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
· Current Texas driver’s license
PUBLIC WORKS I
· No experience required. Entry Level Position
o 1 year experience Small Equipment (tractors, rollers, mowers)
PUBLIC WORKS II
· Equipment Operator and/or Class D water/wastewater license
o 1 year experience backhoe, track hoe, skid steer, boom mower (can dig around live lines and do grading work.
PUBLIC WORSK III
· Class C Water/Wastewater License
· 5 years’ experience as an equipment operator.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.28 - $17.11 per hour
