The Director- Fleet Management directs and manages all fleet services and fueling operations. Oversees financial and budgetary management, operations review, administrative direction, and quality control of department.
Essential Functions
- Reviews, evaluates, and monitors budget allocation, employee assignments, objectives, and performance of subordinate managers and supervisors. Recommends changes to Director, and makes reassignments of resources for the improvement of fleet services and management.
- Coordinates, facilitates, and directs all fleet services, fueling, maintenance, management, and resource allocations with department executives and City management.
- Directs progress of service delivery elements through procedures and strategies to accomplish timely and effective utilization of available services.
- Evaluates and analyzes monthly management reports, service reports, and operations to develop and design budgetary recommendations and to make strategic decisions.
- Reviews and approves personnel actions including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and other personnel actions to ensure productivity and quality standards are maintained.
- Manages and coordinates special research requests to improve fleet management and coordinates responses to the City Manager, City Council, or other departments to provide accurate and timely results.
- Oversees administration of the department including department's operating budget; engages with other leaders to make strong decisions regarding direction of operations and activities.
- Identifies areas of quality management to enhance productivity through improved work procedures and practices, improved communication and accountability.
- Represents the City at local, state, and national organizations and at professional activities to maintain the image of the City and to create public support for departmental programs.
- Manages all hiring, training, performance evaluations, and other personnel actions to ensure productivity and quality standards are maintained.
- Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of business principles, practices and techniques used in department management.
- Knowledge of principles of personnel management and ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of others through subordinates.
- Knowledge of departmental management
- Knowledge of fleet management, services, and operations.
- Knowledge of budgeting and auditing.
- Ability to establish goals and implement programs for effective services.
- Ability to develop and implement budget and perform various financial analysis.
- Ability to direct, manage, train, and supervise clerical, administrative, and trade employees.
- Ability to perform accounting and general computer systems skills.
- Ability to evaluate and manage large multi-faceted department performing various fleet management activities.
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- 10 years of experience in budget management, financial analysis, fleet management or fuel servicing. 2 years of managerial experience required.
