Description
The City of Danbury is now hiring Lifeguards for the Summer 2025 Season.
Lifeguards ensure the safety and welfare of all guests and patrons while providing courteous, friendly and professional assistance at Candlewood Lake. This position operates Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. We have full-time and part-time positions available.
Key requirements for a lake lifeguard :
- Swimming ability :
Complete a long-distance swim (usually 500 yards) using front crawl or breaststroke.
Demonstrate competency in various water rescue techniques, including reaching, throwing, and active rescues.
Current certification in CPR and first aid, including the ability to use an AED.
Adequate stamina and strength to perform rescues in open water
Understanding of lake currents, hazards, and weather conditions
Pass a recognized waterfront lifeguard certification course from an organization like the American Red Cross or USLA.
Important considerations for lake lifeguarding :
Position Requirements :
Must be at least 16 years old to apply.
Must be Lifeguard certified with the American Red Cross or American Lifeguard Association.
