What are the responsibilities and job description for the Waterfront Director position at City of Danbury?
The City of Danbury is now hiring a Waterfront Director for the Summer 2025 season.
The Waterfront Director works under the direction of the Recreation Director, to ensure the general safety of guests and staff at the Candlewood Lake Park. The Waterfront Director is responsible for supervising all waterfront staff, including lifeguards and groundskeeper and the boat ramp attendants. This director is also responsible for teaching and monitoring the proper use of equipment. Safety must be the Waterfront Director’s number one priority. The Director is responsible for training and certifying guards and creating weekly schedules and life guard training drills (Every Friday @ 10). The director will provide an end of the year evaluation of the life guards, boat ramp attendant and grounds keepers. The position is seasonal and up to 40 hours per week. Must have Waterfront experience. This position operates Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the Waterfront Staff
- Create schedules and reports weekly hours to the Recreation Director for payroll processing
- Plan and provide orientation for staff and conduct trainings as necessary
- Maintain all training records
- Maintain and correct our safety log
Ensure the safety of guests and staff at waterfront
- Implements procedures to maintain the safety of lake patrons and staff.
- Inspect waterfront facilities daily; report any defects to Recreation Director
Requirements:
- Must be Lifeguard certified with the American Red Cross or American Lifeguard Association.
