About the Davenport AmeriCorps Program:
Davenport AmeriCorps is part of a nationwide network that connects individuals with community needs. By becoming a member, you will help foster civic engagement, mentorship, and social supports for K-12 students while gaining skills in leadership, problem-solving, and communication. Along the way, you will also receive funding for educational expenses, build your resume, and form valuable connections within your community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in Group Service Projects: Work with organizations like King’s Harvest Homeless Shelter, Davenport Parks and Recreation, and the YWCA to support community initiatives.
- Develop and Present a Site Service Plan: Collaborate with a small group to create a final project that addresses a community need, which will be presented to the Youth Corps cohort.
- Reflection Project: Reflect on your service experience through a project that showcases your impact and personal growth.
- Personal Development Sessions: Attend weekly sessions on topics like goal setting, resume building, public speaking, and job performance to help you grow both professionally and personally.
Service Schedule:
- Minimum Service Hours: 28 hours per week (300 hours total)
- Service Days/Times: Monday to Friday, between 7:00am – 6:00pm (with potential evenings and weekends for events)
- Holidays: Time off during federal holidays and City-observed holidays.
