What are the responsibilities and job description for the City Hall Clerk | Part-Time position at City of Davenport?
We are seeking a part-time Front Desk clerk to greet and assist visitors, answer City Hall's main phone line, and provide clerical support to the Human Resources Department.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Performs assigned clerical duties in conformance with well defined procedures or under close supervision and guidance; picks up, opens and routes mail, memoranda and other correspondence according to specified procedures; uses a telephone in receiving and transmitting calls and messages; provides general information to callers. Types general correspondence and reports, standardized forms and routine file and index cards; attends a public service counter to provide routine information and services.
Maintains files of records alphabetically, chronologically or numerically, files data of similar or related subject matter on a recurring basis; follows pre-determined routines in classification of data for filing.
Posts data, figures and statistics to up-date records; compiles simple summaries of posted data on a periodic basis; performs routine computations manually or by machine; proofs records for accuracy; balances accounts with statements; may post and submit payroll time records.
May operate a variety of office machines (typewriter, computer terminal, calculator or dictating equipment) in routine situations.
Orders office supplies; maintains inventory records; makes copies using duplicating equipment; assembles, collates, punches and binds packets of materials.
Six months experience in the performance of office clerical duties or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Requires typing or computer terminal proficiency at 35 words per minute.
Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.
