What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Seasonal Softball Umpire position at City of De Pere, WI?
General Description
Umpires cover adult recreation softball leagues Spring – Fall. Leagues are held in the evenings at Legion and/or VFW Parks. Umpires prepare fields prior to games, umpire games, maintain clean, safe environment, and submit scorecards at the end of each night.
Rate of Pay: $41.00 - $43.00/game
Work Schedule:
Typical shifts are 5:45 – 10:00pm, depending on league and number of games
Summer Leagues (May – August)

- Co-Ed Slow-Pitch at Legion

- Men’s 12” Slow-Pitch at VFW
- Men’s 14” 35 Slow-Pitch at Legion
Fall League (Aug/Sept – October)

Essential Functions
- Prep/chalk fields prior to game
- Maintain control of game by following league rules/policies
- Make calls for each play (safe/out, ball/strike)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of USA softball rules is required
- Prior experience umpiring softball and/or baseball games preferred.
- Ability to walk, stand, and move for long periods of time
Minimum Requirements & Physical Requirements
- At least 16 years of age
- Experience umpiring softball and/or baseball games
- Preferred athletic experience as a JV or higher competition level in baseball/softball
- Position requires active movement throughout evening, for up to 5 games per night.
Salary : $41 - $43
