Supervises the court’s daily financial control and business operations; assists in the maintenance of financial records.Balances and deposits monies daily; checks Municipal Court Annex financials daily; prepares daily financial reports; assists auditors, City Clerk, and Finance Department staff with financial inquiries; reviews and corrects transaction errors.Prepares monthly state reports.Processes department payroll records.Maintains knowledge of court software programs.Reviews requests for employee leave time; coordinates staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.Processes attorney fee declarations for proper financial reporting.Assists in the supervision of staff; answers questions and resolves problems.Conducts probable cause hearings; issues warrants as needed.Processes records requests.Performs related duties.

GuidelinesThe Code of Alabama, the Decatur City Code, Municipal Court Standing Order for Bond Procedures, the current jail contract, software contracts, the Alabama Magistrates’ Schedule of Fines and Costs, Alabama Municipal Court Fee Distribution Schedule, Federal DOT Standards for Commercial Drivers’ Licenses, and county and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.Complexity/Scope of WorkThe work consists of varied administrative and supervisory duties. Coordinating with multiple stakeholders contributes to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to assist in directing the day-to-day operation of the Municipal Court. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of court operations.ContactsContacts are typically with co-workers, other city employees, judges, attorneys, other court personnel, elected and appointed officials, defendants, representatives of state and federal agencies, business owners, and members of the general public.Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, motivate persons, and provide services.Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.
