JOB SUMMARY:
Under immediate supervision, on assigned shift, collects tolls for use of International Bridge; performs related duties as required. Employee has daily contact with the public, requiring the exercise of tact and courtesy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works rotating shifts; day, evening, and nights.
- Knowledge of cashiering practices and procedures; some knowledge of Mexican currency and applicable exchange rates.
- Responsible for assigned cash box.
- Prepares and turns in money deposits and reports at the end of shift.
- Ability to issue change for American and Mexican currency.
- Maintains work areas clean following established guidelines.
- Provides excellent customer service.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives supervision from the International Bridge Superintendent and assigned Crew Leaders.
- Position has no formal assigned supervisory responsibility or authority.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The principle duties of this position are performed in a toll booth/outdoor environment.
- Required to work in outside weather conditions, including heat, cold and temperature swings, for extended periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near vehicular traffic; with exposure to automobile exhaust fumes.
- Occasional exposure to irate individuals.
- Subject to recall for emergencies/overtime requirements.
- Work assigned rotating shifts and days; Part-time mostly nights and weekends rotating shifts, you will work a high percentage of holiday’s and weekends.
- The employee also performs duties in an office environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Two years of cash handling experience including dispensing change to the public.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled in cash handling practices and procedures.
- Skilled in Customer Service.
- Ability to make mathematical calculations and currency exchange with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret oral and written instructions and refers deviations, problems or unfamiliar situations to supervisor for proper decisions and guidance.
- Skilled in safety regulations, work practices and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public
Other Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Texas Drivers’ License Class C required
- Ability to speak/read English required
- Ability to speak and understand the Spanish language preferred
