Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reports for an assigned shift allowing time to clear the office and be in the toll booth at the beginning of the shift.
- Retrieves the cash box containing change and for safety and security purposes, accompanies the Supervisor to the toll booth to relieve a fellow Specialist who is completing a shift. Enters a personal code into the computer system to activate.
- Processes transactions for vehicles and pedestrians using electronic crossing card accounts and posts prepayments. May calculate special load fees for commercial customers.
- Maintains awareness of the level and nature of activity around the assigned toll station for volume of traffic, pedestrians, and unusual movement. Notifies the supervisor of the need for additional toll collections support and activity.
- Maintains contact with the shift supervisor at all times. Requests and receives replenished cash and change boxes.
- May assist with training by demonstrating and monitoring the work of new toll collections assistants.
- May relieve other toll collections staff for breaks and to balance the workload during times of high traffic volume.
- May assist with preparing work shift activity reports and designs and implements programs and interventions to offer staff maximum support.
- Assists with troubleshooting and resolving discrepancies that are identified by the supervisor, including those arising from conversion to / from US currency, and the toll collections computer system.
- Maintains facilities and toll booths in clean presentable condition.
- Performs other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.
