DUTIES
- Provide assistance to the City Attorney’s Office in performing legal research and writing.
- Assist in preparing and revising legal documents such as ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.
- Review and research complex requests for public information.
- Assist in providing legal opinions to requesting departments.
- Assist paralegal in preparing litigation documents, including but not limited to, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and deposition summaries; monitor deadlines to ensure timely completion.
- Become familiar with general City operations by attending meetings with internal and external stakeholders, as requested.
- May serve as a liaison between attorneys and departments.
- May assist the Lead Prosecutor with municipal court tasks.

- Current enrollment in an ABA accredited law school or recent graduate awaiting bar exam results,
OR
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

- Ability to organize and coordinate work, including maintaining attention to details and quality, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
- Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification.
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday (schedule to be decided with successful applicant).
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
