Job Description
Elbit America is seeking a business-minded legal intern to support the legal counsel team in its provision of legal advice and counsel to internal business and functional clients concerning the legal rights, contractual obligations, privileges, and risks of the company; conduct legal research; participate in meetings within the legal department and meetings with clients of the department; support government contracting matters; help review subcontract terms and conditions, agreements, and related documents; and perform special projects as assigned by various personnel on the legal counsel team.
We are a highly collaborative legal team, so the intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across functional areas, with an opportunity to tailor the experience to align with the intern’s interests, skills and background.
This position will be a paid Summer 2025 opportunity where the selected team member reports to the Deputy General Counsel on the Legal team and will work a hybrid in-person and telework schedule. Candidate will be required to work in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.
This opportunity is open to 1L-3L students at ABA-accredited law schools in the United States who will have completed their first year of law school before the internship begins in Summer 2025.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Participate in negotiations on cases with attorneys.
- Legal research.
- Writing memos.
- Participate in projects that include issues relating to topics such as government contracts, contract lifecycle management, employment best practices in legal tech and operations, marketing and public relations topics, trade compliance, artificial intelligence, and cutting-edge intellectual property, cyber security. Intern also will have opportunities to do technology-related transactional work.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel.
Qualifications
Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):
- Current law student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school who will have completed their first year of law school before the internship begins in Summer 2025.
- Must be US Citizen
Experience Preferred:
- 0-2 years of experience with Government Contracts or the aerospace/defense industry
- Familiarity with U.S. government agencies (DoD)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable):
- Self-starter with demonstrated leadership ability and Motivated to work and learn
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced and complex organizational structure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to analyze fact patterns or case law and provide recommendations in an executive-worthy manner
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Basic knowledge of the federal acquisition system
- Be able to work quickly and pay attention to detail
- Familiarity and skill in legal research using Westlaw
