Position Details: Administrative Assistant - Police Department
The City of Detroit Lakes is seeking a Full-Time Administrative Assistant for the Detroit Lakes Police Department. The Police Department’s Administrative Assistant performs a variety of clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping and administrative work. This position would be responsible for keeping official records, providing customer service, data processing, providing administrative support to the police command staff, and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the police department. Primary duties include assisting the public by phone, or in-person, overseeing all data for the records management system, conducting background checks, compiling data for payroll, and maintaining the department’s personnel records. We believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as part of their role with the City of Detroit Lakes.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree or training in office procedures, bookkeeping, data processing, records management or related topics, must obtain and maintain CJIS and BCA certificate; three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Requirements: Knowledge of principles, practices, trends and procedures of modern office administration and best practices; knowledge of accounting principles and practices; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience with confidentiality and strong computer skills.
The hourly range is $25.96 to $34.01. (Starting hourly range will be between $25.96-$29.71).
