Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The work is sedentary work and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. In addition, positions in this classification typically require grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, manual dexterity, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, expressing ideas by the spoken word, and visual acuity to analyze data.

- Handles the city's financial transactions, such as collecting payments for municipal services, issuing receipts, and maintaining accurate records of all transactions
- Maintain accounts receivable records, including the preparation of daily reports on collections, Â posting of figures to general ledger and accurately reconciles receivables
- Processes all other city departments deposits and information into the financial management system
- Posts funds to correct accounts on a timely basis
- Prepares daily bank deposits
- Enters daily journal entries into financial management system
- Performs back-up coverage for accounts payable
- Submits monthly remittances to the Florida Department of Revenue
- Reconciles city escrow accounts
- Assists in opening, sorting, and routing correspondence to appropriate departmental personnel
- Performs other related job duties as assignedÂ
- Performs other related work as required.
- Must possess at least an Associate in Arts (AA) degree from an accredited college in a related field.
- Must possess at least three (3) years of general secretarial, clerical, or related work experience.
- Must possess at least two (2) years of general accounting experience.
- Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
- Applicants must complete all requirements established by the City of Doral for employment. This may include, but is not limited to, a written examination, a psychological exam, a polygraph examination, a comprehensive background investigation, and a job-related medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening test.
- Must be a non-smoker.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or a similar word processing program.
- Knowledge of Excel or a similar spreadsheet program.
- Knowledge of cashier duties.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of use of small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Skill in using computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
- Skill in typing.
- Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
- Ability to meet and deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner.
- Ability to perform several tasks at one time.
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Ability to accept, receive, and/or collect payments.
- Ability to prepare and/or process purchase orders.
- Ability to advise the Department Head when items are too expensive or the account is too low.
- Ability to get along with others and work effectively with the public and fellow workers.
