SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Police Sergeant assigns work in terms of general instructions. Work is reviewed for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include state and federal laws, traffic laws, city ordinances, court rulings, constitutional guidelines, training manuals, and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.

The City of Dothan's Police Department will administer a polygraph examination to anyone hired / promoted / transferred into the Police Department. The City of Dothan provides additional compensation for sworn law enforcement officers who have advanced education beyond the level required for their position in a law enforcement related field. Associates Degree - 2.5%; Bachelor's Degree - 5%; Master's Degree - 7.5%

This position pays $51,750.40 - $82,784.00 per year, depending on experience. Certified Police Officers have the potential to earn up to $54,337.92 - $86,923.20 annually while assigned to a 7K schedule working 84 hours per pay period and other overtime opportunities would be available as the need arises. I understand and agree to adhere to the following City of Dothan Police Department Policy : Body Art : Tattoo : Employees will not visibly display tattoos that are obscene, sexual, racial or religiously discriminatory. Employees are prohibited from exhibiting any body art / brands that advocate or symbolize gang affiliation, supremacist or extremist groups or drug use. Tattoos are explicitly prohibited from being visible above the collarbone on the neck, face or head and visible with an open collar shirt. Excessive is defined as covering more than 25 % of an exposed body part.
