Each intern will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of study. Each intern must be open to new ideas and suggestions, and be committed to completing the internship in its entirety.
SUMMER INTERN – Keep Douglasville Beautiful
INTERNSHIP SUMMARY
The Summer Intern will assist in the operations and execution of Keep Douglasville Beautiful’s (KDB) programs and initiatives, supporting community engagement, environmental sustainability, and operational efficiency. This role will include administrative support, event assistance, volunteer coordination, and strategic development projects to improve the effectiveness of KDB programs
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adopt-A-Road Equipment Pickup
- Monitor Booking Site for reservations
- Retrieve Equipment Bag from Garage (include garbage bags)
- Place Volunteer Waiver folder in the bag
- Attach Bag Tag with organization name and equipment quantity
- Volunteer Engagement & Outreach
- Send follow-up emails to individuals who submit the KDB Volunteer Interest Form and Adopt-A-Road Interest Form
- Research and conduct volunteer outreach
- Develop and distribute school engagement packets for principals in surrounding schools
- Farmers Market Tasks
- Assist in market setup, directing vendors to assigned locations, and working at the information booth
- Serve as a floater between vendors and the information booth
- Attend all Farmers Market Board meetings and assist in meeting tasks
- Assist in scheduling and posting content on social media
- Support market takedown and checkout procedures, including sales totals and SNAP/EBT token counts
- Prepare the weekly market report for submission to Wholesome Wave Georgia
- Collaborate in weekly vendor communications regarding offerings, logistics, and market preparation
- Community Garden Tasks
- Complete the Community Garden Checklist weekly
- KDB Administrative & Strategic Tasks
- Assist in the development and implementation of a 5-year strategic plan for KDB
- Support quarterly/annual grant reporting for:
- Keep Georgia Beautiful
- Keep America Beautiful
- Environmental Protection Division Grant
- Beautification Grant
- Attend and assist in the preparation for KDB Board meetings
- Assist in developing policies and procedures for KDB programs
- Brainstorm new program ideas to expand community engagement
- Adopt-A-Road Program Support
- Assist in the organization and distribution of pickup equipment
- Manage communication with participating organizations
- Monitor form responses and update the shared calendar
- Process Improvement Initiatives
- Analyze existing processes for:
- Adopt-A-Road
- Farmers Market
- Keep Douglasville Beautiful
- Develop strategies to optimize efficiency and improve workflow
- Assist in rebranding and website overhaul for the above programs

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate (within the last year), majoring in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Horticulture Environmental Design/Sustainable Design, Biology, Ecology or related major preferred; Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent oral and written communications skills are all essential to this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Incumbent works in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.

Typically, 30 hours per week; The rate of pay will be paid at $20 per hour.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States
- Current enrollment in a Georgia college, university, or technical school (or recently graduate within the last year)
- Current grade point average of 3.0 or better
