What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Equipment Operator III position at City of Dover?
There’s never been a better time to explore a future with the City of Dover. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Public Works Department as a Motor Equipment Operator III. This position is to lead in providing City Services and in support of City maintenance operations. This position will be responsible for tasks of responsibility and leading personnel as directed. This position works under general supervision according to some procedures; decides how and when to complete tasks. Normal duty hours are 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Overtime is required as needed.
Job Responsibilities
· Monitors and reviews work assignments and determines resources required to complete tasks, such as number of workers, materials, tools, or equipment.
· Operates motor equipment to transport materials, tools, equipment, or personnel to job sites, load or haul dirt, or pick up debris from job sites.
· Operates specialized motor equipment to support City operations such as street paving, snow removal, street sanding, storm drain cleaning, repair, and replacement, or other specialized operations.
· Inspects motor equipment and performs minor maintenance, reports malfunctions to supervisor.
· Responds to and resolves customer complaints for the assigned area as directed.
· Assists with traffic control and provides information to the public if required.
· Completes job-related logs and forms.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
· Valid Delaware Commercial Driver’s License.
· Minimum of three years of related experience or a combination of experience and knowledge of stormwater utility maintenance.
