The City of Dover is currently seeking five qualified applicants for the position of Relief Fire Dispatcher. The primary duties of this position are to dispatch emergency services in response to calls for assistance by dispatching appropriate personnel and equipment. This is a position in which relief dispatchers fill in for full-time dispatchers.
Job Responsibilities
- Record essential information
- Maintain reference materials, logs and tapes
- Perform minor maintenance on fire apparatus
- Complete various custodial tasks at the fire station
- Works under general supervision, independently developing work sequences
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Equivalent of one (1) year of college or vocational school education in computer operation, radio operation, or closely related field
- Rotating shift work, weekends and holidays are required
- Requires 800 MHz radio system knowledge
- Two (2) years of fire service experience, dispatching experience is preferred
- Computer experience is essential
