Under the direction of the Adult Recreation Program Coordinator, the successful candidate is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing instructional programs for adults/seniors on a seasonal basis.

We are currently seeking to enhance our programming by hiring enthusiastic, creative instructors with interest and experience in the following recreation-type class offerings:
  • Creative Arts (Drawing/Painting/Mixed Media)
  • Craft Making (Pinterest/Simple "Make It & Take It" Projects)
  • Cooking (Hands-On/Instructional/Seasonal Dishes)


Availability/Scheduling Requirements
  • We are currently seeking instructors available to work daytime hours (10am-2pm) and/or evening hours (5-9pm)
  • Must be available to work in-person in Dublin, Ohio (no remote opportunities at this time)
  • Availability to work is flexible based on instructor availability for days, evenings and weekends
  • Community Recreation Instructors typically work 2-20 hours per week, depending on program/class needs

Pay Information: The starting pay rate for this position is $22/hour. Job offers are contingent on passage of a pre-employment drug test, background check and receipt of favorable references.

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan specific, age-appropriate activities for seasonal program offerings
  • Organize and secure necessary supplies, materials and equipment for seasonal program offerings
  • Lead, instruct, demonstrate and supervise all program activities as assigned
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures and maintain clean, safe activity areas throughout all program times
  • Work with Recreation Program Coordinator to help resolve issues that arise within seasonal programs
  • Communicate effectively with Recreation Program Coordinator and program participants prior to, during, and at the conclusion of each seasonal program offering
  • Ascertain and interpret group interests, evaluate programs, and adapt recreational activities to meet participant needs
  • Review and adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Instructor Handbook in order to perform the instructor role conscientiously, with enthusiasm and pride, upholding the City of Dublin’s Core Values at all times
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Possession of current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment
  • Possess strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and remain active and on your feet for length of program time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree from a college university with a major in Recreation, Leisure Management, or related field; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to serve as a Community Recreation Instructor

Supplemental Information: All positions within this job classification have been designated as Casual in nature and all employees serving in such positions are considered to be Casual Employees. Casual employees serve strictly at the pleasure of the City and their employment may be terminated at any time for any reason, with or without cause.
