- Provides daily guidance of field operations within the Division of Public Service
- Acts as a field Team Lead for work duties and guides crews in the performance of maintenance activities
- Oversees projects and prioritizes assignments in relation to daily operations, including park maintenance, turf management, cemeteries, playgrounds, ponds and irrigation/fountains, and special events support
- Coordinates pest and turf management activities and provides customer service for cemetery lot sales
Please note: The scheduled work days for this role will change throughout the year as follows:
- November-March: Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm
- April-October: Thursday-Monday, 6:30am-3:00pm
- Performs daily guidance of park maintenance operations, including turf and pest management, cemeteries, playgrounds, ponds and irrigation/fountains, snow events, special events, hardscaping, wildlife management, waste management, and other divisional needs
- Provides input for park operations that include planning, training, and support; provides informal feedback for full-time and seasonal employees to staff and/or the Operations Administrator
- Provides feedback on Operating budget (e.g. supplies, equipment, inventory, etc.) and Capital Improvement budge, operations expenditures, preventative maintenance, and existing and future projects
- Provides customer service for cemetery lot sales, inquires and complaints; coordinates burial logistics as well as locates plots, graves and aisle ways by way of physical tools
- Performs logistical tasks utilizing computer software to create, receive, and/or close work orders, input data on completed work assignments, keep routine documentation, and create reports; monitors use of equipment and material inventory
- Operates a variety of motorized vehicles and specialized mechanical/electrical equipment and hand tools based on the functions necessary to perform specific jobs; ensures all equipment is in good operating order and well maintained
- Responds to "quick response" situations; serves in "on call" status to respond, work and/or lead maintenance staff during special events, police requests, and citizen complaints regarding service issues
- Coordinates and implements City of Dublin's signature events, community events, and daily rentals; coordinates set up and tear down, waste management, staffing, vendor relations, and safety issues
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED and consider experience in park maintenance, athletic fields, playgrounds, turf management, irrigation, cemetery operations, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- State of Ohio Commercial Applicator's License, General Aquatic, Industrial Vegetation Control, and Turf Pest Control licenses, or the ability to obtain licenses within six months of appointment
- Knowledge of computer data entry and software programs
- Working knowledge of pond management and aquatic management
- Working knowledge of installation and operation of aerators/founds, including electrical hazards and abatement and code regulations pertaining to aerators and fountains
- Ability to understand, interpret and utilize advanced irrigation, pond management, electrical installations and construction plans and drawings preferred
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety of the work, with emphasis on special precautions and equipment required of the crew(s) to which assigned
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to operate standard office equipment in the performance of essential functions (e.g. personal computer, copier, fax telephone)
- Ability to move, lift and otherwise manually transfer equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds, and up to and exceeding 50 pounds with mechanical assistance
- Ability to maneuver over and under equipment and in small work areas while performing essential functions
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to demonstrate dexterity in the use of hands and feet
- Ability to work under emergency conditions in support of fire and police operations
- Ability to perform tasks requiring stooping, bending, climbing ladders and stairs, and working on roofs
