Childcare attendant for the Recreation Center Kids Club provides a fun and safe environment for children up to age 8.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Knowledge of:
Operations, services, and activities of a City Parks and Recreation Department. Various techniques for handling behavior issues in children.
Ability to:
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Operate a computer and relevant software programs.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Maintain mental capacity that allows the capability of effectively interacting and communicating with others.
Work Environment:
Indoor recreational facilities, irregular work hours and weekends, may work in or around water and slippery. Periods of mobility with light and heavy physical activity.
Physical Activities:
Ability to effectively interact with other individuals;
Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, reach, carry, grasp and turn objects;
Ability to climb stairs; and stand, sit and walk for up to 60 minutes at a time; Acceptable eyesight to read printed material;
Acceptable hearing to communicate with others in person or through telephonic means;
Acceptable verbal and conversation skills to effectively communicate with others via the phone, at meetings and to greet and assist visitors.Education or Formal Training and Licenses:
Verifiable education or training in working with children in such areas as recreation, education, scouting, and/or 4-H.
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Certified, or the ability to get certified, in CPR/First Aide/AED.
Experience:

- Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Ensure all users are paid for by verifying the receipt or punching their card.
- Ensure only authorized persons are picking up a child from the Kids Club area.
- Keep an organized file of all required paperwork.
- Provide quality activities for children in the Kids Club.
- Interact and supervise the children in Kids Club continuously.
- Provide clear direction and expectations to all users.
- Ensure proper activities are being provided with the appropriate supervision.
- Ensure site is clean and is in compliance with state regulations for school age programs.
- Dress appropriately.
- Report to work at assigned time.
