Volunteer in the Durango Parks and Recreation Department’s programs, including sports, fitness classes, and activities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Knowledge of:
Indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, irregular work hours; may work in or around water and slippery surfaces. Periods of mobility with light and heavy physical activity.
Physical Activities:
Experience:
- Report to work at assigned time.
- Lead safe and effective fitness classes in designated locations.
- Clean and organize aerobics area.
- Inspect the aerobics area and equipment daily.
- Set-up all required and necessary equipment in order to get program started on time.
- Ensure a safe playing/program area by inspecting facility and equipment prior to class.
- Fill out and submit as scheduled an accurate time card for hours worked.
Other Duties:
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of and ability to instruct high-intensity fitness formats, including barre, power yoga, strength fusion, and HIIT.
- Knowledge of aerobics area, sound systems, and equipment maintenance, including cleaning, inspection, and basic troubleshooting.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Operate fitness area equipment and sound system.
- Maintain physical fitness necessary to demonstrate and lead high-intensity fitness classes.
- Maintain mental capacity that allows the capability of effectively interacting and communicating with others.

- Ability to effectively interact with other individuals.
- Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, reach, carry, grasp and turn objects;
- Ability to climb stairs; and stand, sit and walk for up to 60 minutes at a time;
- Acceptable eyesight to read printed material & a computer monitor and to operate office equipment; Acceptable hearing to communicate with others in person or through telephonic means;
- Acceptable verbal and conversation skills to effectively communicate with others via the phone, at meetings and to greet and assist visitors.
- National certification in group fitness or specific class formats.
- CPR/AED certification and knowledge of emergency procedures.
Experience:
- Prefer experience in a Fitness related area or a degree in Exercise Science.
